ANDREW REDDEN ILLUSTRATION
MY ENGLAND
During the first half of the last century, the big four railway companies spent a great deal of effort and money marketing their services and products. The railway poster became the canvas of choice for the greatest commercial artists of the time. It was as much down to the printing processes used as the artworks themselves that resulted in the final posters. The ‘My Places’ collection is unashamedly influenced by these early posters and artists. Each original artwork is over-painted three to four times in acrylic to produce the depth of vibrancy achieved by the work of the old railway companies. It is also a constantly growing record of the places that I enjoy visiting in my own country.
